China and Arab Nations Strengthen Ties at Shanghai Forum

The 5th China-Arab States Reform and Development Forum, held in Shanghai, brought together over 100 representatives from 19 Arab countries, the Arab League, and diverse sectors in China. Discussions centered on deepening collaboration under the Global Development Initiative (GDI), with a focus on innovation, multilateralism, and sustainable growth.

Zhai Jun, China's special envoy for Middle East affairs, emphasized the shared commitment to “innovation-driven development and mutually beneficial openness” during his keynote address. Participants highlighted the strategic alignment between China’s GDI priorities and Arab states’ economic diversification goals, particularly in technology, green energy, and infrastructure.

The forum underscored the growing role of China-Arab cooperation in addressing global challenges, from climate action to digital transformation. Analysts noted that such dialogues strengthen cross-regional partnerships while fostering stability in a shifting geopolitical landscape.
