Chinese President Xi Jinping and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held high-level talks in Phnom Penh on Thursday, reaffirming commitments to deepen economic collaboration and regional stability. The meeting marked a milestone in China-Cambodia relations, which recently celebrated 65 years of diplomatic ties.
Key discussions focused on advancing cross-sector partnerships in infrastructure, digital economy, and agriculture under the Belt and Road Initiative framework. Both leaders emphasized accelerating the alignment of Cambodia's ‘Pentagonal Strategy’ with China's development vision. Bilateral trade between the two nations reached $12 billion in 2023, with Chinese investment supporting major transportation and energy projects in Cambodia.
Xi highlighted China's support for ‘a community with a shared future for mankind,’ while Hun Manet acknowledged Cambodia’s appreciation for technical cooperation and vaccine assistance during the pandemic. New agreements were signed to enhance cultural exchanges and tourism cooperation, reinforcing people-to-people bonds.
