China has announced it will impose reciprocal visa restrictions on U.S. personnel involved in what it described as "bad behavior" related to Xizang (Tibet), signaling escalating diplomatic friction over the region. The move, confirmed by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian on Monday, comes in direct response to U.S. visa curbs targeting Chinese officials earlier this year.
"Xizang-related issues are purely China's internal affairs," Lin stated during a regular press briefing, emphasizing that the U.S. actions "severely violate international law and fundamental norms of international relations."
While reaffirming China's openness to international visitors, the spokesperson noted that Xizang "welcomes foreign friends to visit, travel, and do business" but opposes external interference under the pretext of human rights or cultural concerns.
