The China Pavilion launched with grandeur at Osaka Expo 2025 on Sunday, unveiling a striking architectural marvel inspired by traditional scroll designs to over 300 international guests. The opening ceremony blended cultural heritage and futuristic vision through performances like the lion dance and environmental-themed drama The Crested Ibis.
"This pavilion represents China’s commitment to openness and shared progress," said Ren Hongbin of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. He emphasized collaborations for "a more inclusive global future."
BIE Secretary General Dimitri Kerkentzes praised China’s Expo contributions, noting its exhibits bridge "ancient wisdom with cutting-edge innovation." Masakazu Tokura, chair of Japan’s Expo association, highlighted the event’s role in advancing Japan-China cooperation.
Spanning 3,500 sqm, the pavilion’s "green development" theme unfolds across three zones: traditional ecological practices, modern sustainability initiatives, and global environmental partnerships. Key attractions include lunar soil samples from Chang’e-5 and Chang’e-6 missions, an immersive Jiaolong submersible experience, and AI-powered humanoid robots.
Expo 2025 runs from April 13 to October 13, positioning the China Pavilion as a focal point for cross-cultural dialogue and technological exchange.
