China Media Group (CMG) has launched a new initiative to broadcast seven premium Chinese TV shows and films in Cambodia, marking a milestone in cultural diplomacy between the two nations. The programs began airing on Sunday via Cambodia's mainstream media outlets, including the National Television of Cambodia (TVK) and Apsara TV.
Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and CMG president, emphasized the initiative's role in advancing bilateral ties. "Under the guidance of our leaders, China-Cambodia relations are striding toward a brighter future," Shen stated, calling the collaboration a "positive measure to strengthen cultural exchanges and consolidate the foundation of friendship."
Cambodian media executives echoed the sentiment. Khim Vuthy of TVK highlighted the countries' "iron-clad" friendship, noting that the shows will offer Cambodian audiences insights into China's development and cultural richness. Khvay Atitya of Apsara TV added that the programs aim to present a "real, three-dimensional view of China" to foster mutual understanding.
The initiative aligns with broader efforts to deepen the Cambodia-China community with a shared future, as both nations continue collaborating on economic, political, and cultural fronts. The selected content spans genres, providing Cambodian viewers with diverse perspectives on Chinese society.
