China Red Cross Delivers Urgent Aid to Quake-Hit Mandalay

The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) airlifted its first batch of critical aid to Myanmar's earthquake-stricken Mandalay region on Wednesday, delivering over 4,900 relief items including tents, blankets, and folding beds. The supplies aim to help thousands displaced by the magnitude-7.9 quake that struck on March 28, one of Southeast Asia's strongest seismic events this year.

Coordinated Relief Efforts

A dedicated RCSC rescue team is working alongside Myanmar Red Cross volunteers to distribute supplies and establish emergency shelters. The team has also been conducting search-and-rescue operations and providing medical care to survivors. Psychological support services are being prioritized for vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly.

Swift Financial Response

Within hours of the disaster, the RCSC pledged 1.5 million yuan ($208,900) in emergency funding. This rapid response reflects China's established disaster coordination mechanism with neighboring countries, activated through formal diplomatic channels at Myanmar's request.

The relief operation marks continued cross-border collaboration in natural disaster management, emphasizing Asia's growing focus on regional humanitarian partnerships.
