Spring has painted Beijing's historic Zhongshan Park in vibrant hues as its famed double-flowering plum trees burst into full bloom. Crowds gathered this week along the park's eastern wall, where hundreds of delicate pink blossoms frame traditional pavilions and corridors, creating a living postcard of seasonal renewal.
The hybrid plum species, known for its layered petals and sweet fragrance, has thrived in the park since the early 20th century. 'These blooms represent both natural beauty and cultural continuity,' explained Li Wei, a horticulturist at the Beijing Municipal Landscape Institute. 'They've witnessed generations of visitors finding peace amid the city's rapid modernization.'
Open daily from 6 AM to 8 PM, the park offers free admission before 9 AM for early risers. Subway Line 1 provides direct access to Tiananmen West Station, with the park's iconic magnolia groves expected to reach peak bloom within 10 days.
