Shanghai Fashion Week became a stage for technological innovation this Wednesday as Unitree Robotics' humanoid G1 robot and a nimble robotic dog shared the spotlight with human models. The event, organized in collaboration with avant-garde label NMTG, redefined traditional runway shows through an experimental fusion of artificial intelligence and high fashion.
Following human models' presentations, the robotic dog executed a dramatic mid-stage flip to reveal custom-designed attire. The G1 humanoid then captivated audiences by interacting with a model clad in blue – shaking hands and accepting a 3D-printed deer-shaped necklace symbolizing harmony. The sequence blurred lines between programmed precision and artistic expression.
Creative director Xu Shangxi revealed the concept stemmed from Unitree's viral Chinese New Year performance, where the G1 demonstrated its ability to perform traditional dances. "This collaboration explores the symbiotic potential between organic life and mechanical intelligence," Xu told attendees.
The G1 robot represents China's advancements in AI-driven mobility, featuring full-body motion control capable of complex maneuvers from dance routines to coordinated performances. Industry analysts suggest such integrations could reshape creative industries, offering new possibilities for interactive design and audience engagement.
