China's Fujian coast guard conducted routine law enforcement patrols near Kinmen on Tuesday, reinforcing efforts to ensure maritime safety and order in the Xiamen-Kinmen waters, according to a regional China Coast Guard spokesperson. Zhu Anqing emphasized the operation's role in protecting the rights and safety of fisherfolk, including residents of the Taiwan region, while maintaining navigational stability.
Since March, Fujian coast guard fleets have been deployed continuously in the area to strengthen maritime management. The patrols align with China's commitment to uphold lawful operations and safeguard regional security, addressing concerns over fishing activities and cross-strait cooperation.
Zhu noted the initiative promotes 'harmonious order' for vessels and residents on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, underscoring the importance of shared safety in one of Asia's busiest maritime corridors. The Coast Guard reaffirmed its dedication to fostering stable cross-strait ties through collaborative governance.
