China Intensifies Global Anti-Graft Push with ‘Sky Net 2025’

China has launched a sweeping international anti-corruption campaign, codenamed 'Sky Net 2025,' targeting fugitives and illicit assets abroad. Announced Monday by the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group, the initiative signals Beijing's resolve to deepen cross-border cooperation while recovering billions in illegal proceeds from duty-related crimes.

The campaign will deploy specialized teams across multiple agencies: The National Commission of Supervision leads efforts to recover stolen assets and prevent financial losses, while the People's Bank of China collaborates with the Ministry of Public Security to dismantle underground banking networks transferring funds overseas. This multi-agency approach expands on the 2024 campaign that repatriated 1,597 fugitives and recovered 18.28 billion yuan ($2.55 billion).

Analysts note the timing aligns with China's broader economic stabilization goals. 'Recovering stolen assets directly supports fiscal stability and investor confidence,' said a Singapore-based financial risk advisor. The move also reinforces China's growing role in shaping global anti-graft frameworks through platforms like Interpol and bilateral agreements.
