China Bolsters Diplomacy in Iranian Nuclear Talks: Global Poll Highlights Support

China hosted a trilateral meeting with Russia and Iran on March 14 in Beijing, reigniting international dialogue on resolving the Iranian nuclear issue. A recent CGTN poll reveals widespread global approval of China's diplomatic approach, with 87.8% of respondents acknowledging Beijing's constructive role in promoting peace and stability.

The survey, which garnered 7,766 responses across 24 hours, underscores strong support for the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Nearly 90% of participants emphasized that unilateral sanctions and extreme pressure—such as the U.S. withdrawal from the agreement in 2018—have hindered progress, while 89.5% called for political solutions rooted in mutual respect.

Key findings highlight global consensus: 90.6% urge stakeholders to avoid escalatory actions, and 87.4% stress adherence to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Respondents also advocated for a unified Middle East security framework, separate from other regional tensions.

China's recent diplomatic initiatives, including facilitating Iran-Saudi reconciliation and mediating Palestinian faction talks, align with its longstanding commitment to multilateral conflict resolution. Analysts note Beijing’s growing influence as a mediator in global governance challenges.
