The Sanjiangyuan National Park, often hailed as China's "Water Tower," is showcasing remarkable progress in biodiversity and ecological resilience, according to CPPCC member Lian Yuming. Speaking at the 14th CPPCC National Committee's Members' Corridor in Beijing, Lian emphasized the critical role played by over 21,000 local rangers—primarily from the ethnic Zang community—in safeguarding the region's fragile ecosystems.
"Sanjiangyuan is now home to more than 3,000 wild plant species and 310 animal species, a testament to our collective efforts," said Lian, who also serves as chief expert at the park's administration. The Qinghai-based reserve, vital for water resources affecting millions across Asia, has seen sustainable advancements due to round-the-clock conservation work.
The initiative highlights China's integrated approach to environmental stewardship, combining traditional knowledge with modern governance.
