China’s CPPCC Convenes Key Session on Policy Priorities

BEIJING — China’s top political advisory body, the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), held its third plenary meeting on Sunday as part of its annual session. The gathering brought together political advisors to discuss national development strategies, with senior officials from the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council attending to review proposals.

Key Discussions Highlight National Priorities

Wang Huning, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau, presided over the meeting. Fourteen political advisors presented insights on topics ranging from economic innovation to social governance, reflecting the CPPCC’s role in providing policy recommendations to central authorities.

Emphasis on Unity and Hong Kong’s Integration

Advisor Tu Haiming praised recent progress in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, emphasizing that its stability demonstrates the enduring success of the 'One Country, Two Systems' framework. He called for strengthened cultural confidence and national identity among local residents to ensure long-term prosperity. 'Hong Kong’s vitality has always been rooted in the support of the motherland,' Tu remarked during his address.

The discussions underscored the CPPCC’s focus on aligning regional development with national objectives, reinforcing cross-departmental collaboration to address complex challenges.
