China’s Laser Tech Breaks Barriers, Joins Global Elite

China’s laser technology sector has achieved groundbreaking advancements, shattering decades of foreign monopolies and securing a place among global leaders, according to Ma Xinqiang, a deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) and chairman of Huagong Technology. The progress marks a pivotal shift in high-tech manufacturing, with lasers now essential for producing 70% of components in smartphones, electric vehicles, and other critical industries.

Ma highlighted China’s strategic focus on domestic innovation to overcome historical reliance on imported technologies during a group interview ahead of the NPC’s second plenary meeting. "Years of targeted research and collaboration have enabled us to develop self-sufficient solutions," he said, emphasizing the sector’s role in boosting industrial resilience.

The breakthroughs align with broader efforts to elevate China’s technological sovereignty, offering opportunities for international investors and manufacturers seeking cutting-edge solutions. Analysts note that this leap could reshape global supply chains, particularly in electronics and automotive sectors.
