Humanoid Robot G1 Takes Center Stage in CGTN Office Tour Highlighting China’s Tech Innovation

Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics’ G1 humanoid robot recently made waves during a visit to CGTN’s offices, showcasing China’s accelerating advancements in intelligent automation. Standing at 1.3 meters tall with 35 kilograms of precision engineering, the compact robot demonstrated capabilities ranging from agile movement to executing technical tasks like welding—a glimpse into what developers call "the future of integrated AI and industrial applications."

Unitree’s Marketing Manager Jin Da emphasized the transformative potential of large AI models like DeepSeek, stating: "Computational breakthroughs are enabling robots to adapt across environments—whether factory floors or living rooms." His remarks align with discussions at China’s ongoing Two Sessions, where policymakers emphasized cultivating "new quality productive forces" through tech-driven industrial upgrades.

With 23-43 adjustable joints, the G1’s versatility contrasts with its bulkier predecessor, the Spring Festival Gala-performing H1 model. Jin predicts household adoption within a decade, driven by what he describes as a "virtuous cycle" of public interest, talent recruitment, and corporate innovation.

As labs nationwide push robotic boundaries, devices like the G1 spotlight China’s growing influence in shaping global automation trends—a narrative advancing both economic priorities and scientific ambition.
