The Chinese mainland’s Tianwen-2 probe for asteroid exploration has arrived at the launch site at the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest Sichuan Province, the China National Space Administration announced on Thursday.
Scheduled for launch in the first half of 2025, the Tianwen-2 probe aims to collect samples from the near-Earth asteroid 2016 HO3 and explore the comet 311P, according to the agency.
Currently, facilities at the launch site are reported to be in good condition, and preparatory work is progressing as planned, the China National Space Administration added.
