The Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) made a notable return to Berlin on Monday, marking its first overseas promotional event in the German capital in nine years.
This significant event brought together esteemed figures from the global film industry, all of whom expressed admiration for the remarkable progress and growth of China’s film sector. Among the distinguished guests were Polish filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski, who served as the jury president for the 25th SIFF Golden Goblet Awards in 2023; Ichiyama Shozo, the programming director of the Tokyo International Film Festival and a jury member for SIFF’s Asian New Talent section in 2010; and Marco Müller, a producer, scholar, and jury member for the main competition of the Golden Goblet Awards in 2021.
The gathering not only highlighted the festival’s expanding international influence but also underscored the dynamic and evolving landscape of Asian cinema. By fostering such international collaborations and showcasing exceptional talent, SIFF continues to play a pivotal role in promoting cultural exchange and strengthening ties within the global film community.
