Rising Numbers of Swans Grace Xinjiang’s Swan Spring Wetland

A record number of swans have been spotted at the Swan Spring Wetland in Yining County, Xinjiang. Thanks to underground springs, the waters at the wetland remain unfrozen during winter, creating a hospitable environment for a variety of migratory birds. Each year, these springs attract numerous species of swans to overwinter in the region.

Since the early 1990s, the population of swans spending the winter at Swan Spring Wetland has been steadily increasing, highlighting the area’s growing importance as a vital habitat for these graceful birds. The consistent influx of swans underscores the effective conservation efforts and the wetland’s significance in supporting biodiversity in Xinjiang.
