Sichuan Landslide Death Toll Rises to 10 with 19 Still Missing

A devastating landslide struck Jinping Village in Junlian County, Yibin City, within Sichuan Province on February 8 at 11:50 a.m., resulting in a tragic loss of life and leaving many residents unaccounted for.

As of Monday at 12 p.m., local authorities in the Chinese mainland have confirmed 10 fatalities and reported that 19 individuals remain missing. Additionally, two people have been injured due to the disaster.

The initial reports last week indicated one death, two injuries, and 28 people missing. Since then, rescue teams have intensified their efforts to locate those still unaccounted for and to provide aid to the affected families.

Reconstruction initiatives are currently underway, aiming to restore normalcy for the residents of Jinping Village and surrounding areas. Authorities are working diligently to ensure that the community recovers swiftly from this natural catastrophe.
