Premier Li Qiang Highlights Winter Sports as Economic Growth Driver

Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Saturday emphasized the crucial role of developing winter sports and related industries in boosting the economy. During his inspection tour of Heilongjiang Province in northeast China, Li outlined strategies to create new opportunities for service consumption and to establish winter sports as a key growth driver.

Speaking at the Harbin Songhua River Ice and Snow Carnival, Li stressed the importance of leveraging local resources to build accessible snow and ice venues. He highlighted the need for engaging winter activities that can attract the public and stimulate the winter economy.

The premier also visited a local ice sports center, where he noted that the recently concluded 9th Asian Winter Games had significantly increased public enthusiasm for winter sports. He called for initiatives to promote widespread participation in winter activities and the development of industries related to winter sports equipment.

Li met with designers from a local culture and tourism company, advocating for the continuous enhancement of ice and snow cultural products. He emphasized the role of enterprises in driving innovation to create more appealing products and services, and stressed the importance of strengthening international exchanges and cooperation in the winter sports sector.
