China and Brazil Seek Enhanced Cooperation at Munich Security Conference

At the Munich Security Conference, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized China's commitment to deepening cooperation with Brazil. Meeting with Celso Amorim, special advisor to the Brazilian president, Wang highlighted the significance of Chinese President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Brazil last year. This visit led to important agreements aimed at building a China-Brazil community with a shared future.

Wang Yi underscored the strategic value of China-Brazil relations, noting how the Belt and Road Initiative aligns with Brazil's development strategies, providing a strong impetus for collaboration. He praised the partnership between China and Brazil as major global powers representing the Global South, working together to promote world peace, stability, and development.

The Chinese Foreign Minister reiterated China's willingness to implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, advance cooperation in various fields, practice true multilateralism, uphold the United Nations' core role, and protect the legitimate rights and interests of Global South countries.

Celso Amorim echoed these sentiments, highlighting the profound impact of President Xi's visit on strengthening the friendship between Brazil and China. Amorim expressed Brazil's readiness to accelerate the implementation of agreed-upon initiatives, aiming to build a fairer and more sustainable Brazil-China community. He also emphasized the importance of safeguarding international fairness and justice.

Both leaders committed to enhancing communication and coordination, deepening cooperation within the BRICS framework, and strengthening ties between China and Latin American nations. They also acknowledged the contributions of the \"Friends of Peace\" platform and pledged to continue efforts towards a political resolution of the Ukraine crisis.
