Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, addressed questions about China-Russia oil and gas trade, noting that the two countries have established a comprehensive strategic partnership for coordination in the new era, characterized by no alliance, no confrontation, and not targeting any third party. He assured that China and Russia maintain normal economic and trade exchanges.
Regarding China's stance on the Ukraine crisis, Wang reiterated that China did not create the crisis nor is it a party to it, but it has neither stood idle nor taken advantage of the situation. He emphasized that China consistently advocates for resolving the crisis through dialogue and consultation, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries, and upholding the principles of the UN Charter.
Wang also mentioned China's active role in diplomatic mediation, including the launch of a \"Friends of Peace\" group with Brazil and other Global South countries. He expressed confidence that China's approach is objective, fair, rational, and pragmatic, reflecting the broad consensus of the international community.
Furthermore, Wang welcomed the peace talks consensus reached by the United States and Russia, expressing hope that all parties and stakeholders will participate in the peace process. He called on Europe to play a pivotal role in achieving long-term peace and stability by jointly addressing the root causes of the crisis and establishing a balanced, effective, and sustainable security framework.
