China, Germany to Boost Collaboration for International Peace at Munich Summit

At the Munich Security Conference on Friday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi announced China's readiness to enhance communication and coordination with Germany to foster international peace and stability. Speaking alongside German Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Wang emphasized the importance of a multipolar world as an inevitable trend and a central theme of the conference.

Wang highlighted that in an era marked by rising protectionism, the resurgence of Cold War mentalities, and unilateral actions, it is crucial for countries like China and Germany to build a broad consensus and present a unified stance on global peace and stability. He expressed China's hope that Germany would play a significant role in the ongoing process of world multipolarization.

Addressing the strong ties between China and Germany, Wang noted that the robust development of bilateral relations contributes to stability within China-EU relations. With Germany approaching a general election, Wang assured that China remains committed to non-interference in other nations' internal affairs and values the mutually beneficial cooperation with Germany. He expressed readiness to engage in dialogue and cooperation with the upcoming German government to further strengthen bilateral ties.

Wang also underscored China's dedication to green transformation and sustainable development. He indicated China's willingness to collaborate with Germany in tackling global challenges such as climate change, reinforcing the commitment to a sustainable future.

German Foreign Minister Baerbock echoed these sentiments, stating that Germany places great importance on exchanges and cooperation with China across various fields. She expressed Germany's intent to expand shared interests and establish a reliable partnership with China.

Reaffirming the one-China policy, Baerbock emphasized Germany's commitment to strengthening open communication and deepening dialogue and cooperation with China. She opposed tariff and trade wars, advocating for the maintenance of multilateralism and free trade. Baerbock also looked forward to further coordination on green development and other pressing global issues.

The discussions between Wang and Baerbock also covered the Ukraine crisis and other international matters, reflecting the comprehensive nature of their collaboration aimed at addressing global challenges.
