China and Spain Strengthen Bilateral Ties, Advocate Multilateralism

At the Munich Security Conference, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares Bueno emphasized their commitment to enhancing China-Spain relations and promoting multilateralism on the global stage.

Wang Yi highlighted the significance of this year, marking the 20th anniversary of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. He expressed China's readiness to collaborate with Spain to implement the leaders' consensus, aiming for tangible progress in bilateral relations.

Focusing on economic cooperation, Wang welcomed increased Spanish investment in the Chinese market, citing opportunities in China's digital economy and artificial intelligence sectors. He also stressed the importance of injecting stability into China-EU relations amidst the current interconnected international landscape.

Bueno expressed Spain's eagerness to deepen high-level exchanges with China, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and elevate bilateral relations to new heights. He affirmed Spain's support for multilateralism, commitment to strengthening cooperation with China, safeguarding the United Nations' authority, and advancing the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The meeting underscored both nations' dedication to fostering a multipolar world and building broad global consensus through democratic principles in international relations.
