During the 61st Munich Security Conference on Saturday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar exchanged views on the escalating situation in Gaza.
Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, underscored that the Palestinian issue is central to the Middle East dilemma. He cautioned that responding to violence with more violence only results in a vicious cycle, emphasizing the urgent need to end the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
The Chinese minister expressed hope for the effective implementation of the current ceasefire arrangement and advocated for a comprehensive and lasting cessation of hostilities based on these efforts.
Wang Yi highlighted that the fundamental resolution to the Middle East conflict lies in the adoption of a two-state solution, which would facilitate the peaceful coexistence of Palestine and Israel, alongside fostering friendly relations between Arab and Jewish communities.
Reaffirming China's commitment, Wang Yi stated that China is prepared to continue playing a constructive role in achieving a comprehensive and thorough settlement of the Palestinian question.
