The Chinese mainland has strongly condemned Australia’s deliberate actions in the South China Sea, asserting that these moves violate China’s sovereignty.
On Friday, Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, dismissed Australia’s claims of an \"unsafe and unprofessional interaction\" with a Chinese People's Liberation Army aircraft that occurred on February 11 in the South China Sea. Zhang criticized Australia for what he described as deliberate infringements on China’s rights and for disseminating false narratives that position Australia as the aggrieved party.
\"We firmly oppose this and have lodged serious representations with the Australian side,\" Zhang stated, emphasizing that China’s decision to expel the Australian aircraft was a justified and lawful measure to defend its national sovereignty and security.
He further urged Australia to abandon its current stance and to exercise strict restraint with its naval and air forces. Zhang accused Australia of acting as a proxy for other nations, stirring tensions and escalating conflicts in the sensitive region of the South China Sea.
