The Chinese mainland has reiterated its longstanding belief that dialogue and negotiation are the only viable solutions to the Ukraine crisis, according to statements made by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on Thursday.
Guo made these remarks during a daily press briefing in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement that he and Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to commence negotiations regarding the Ukraine conflict.
Highlighting that Russia and the United States are both major influential countries, Guo expressed satisfaction over the strengthened communication and dialogue between the two nations on various international issues.
The spokesperson emphasized that the Chinese mainland supports all efforts conducive to the peaceful settlement of the crisis and affirmed that it will continue to maintain close communication and coordination with relevant parties, playing a constructive role in promoting a political resolution to the Ukraine crisis.
