China Calls on Japan and U.S. to Respect One-China Principle

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has strongly called on the United States and Japan to immediately stop interfering in China's internal affairs and manipulating issues related to China.

During a regular press briefing on Wednesday, spokesperson Guo Jiakun addressed queries regarding recent discussions between Japanese and U.S. defense ministers about the Taiwan question, which took place in late March.

Guo criticized a joint statement issued by the U.S. and Japan, labeling their remarks as irresponsible and an attempt to meddle in China's core interests. He added that China has lodged stern representations with both countries, expressing profound dissatisfaction with their actions.

\"The Taiwan question is purely China's internal affairs and the very core of China's core interests. It brooks no foreign interference,\" Guo emphasized.

He further noted that both the U.S. and Japanese governments have previously made solemn commitments to China concerning the Taiwan question. Guo highlighted that Japan, in particular, bears significant historical responsibilities due to its past aggression against Taiwan and colonial rule over the island, urging Japan to act with greater prudence regarding Taiwan-related matters.

\"We urge the U.S. and Japan to abide by the one-China principle and honor their commitments, and stop manipulating China-related issues,\" Guo concluded.
