Asian Winter Games Athletes Embrace Chinese Culture in Harbin

Nearly 20 athletes, sports delegation officials, and media representatives from countries participating in the 9th Asian Winter Games experienced a vibrant cultural exchange event in Harbin City, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

The gathering took place at a China Media Group studio located in the Sun Island International Snow Sculpture Art Expo Park, bringing together international guests from Mongolia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

The event commenced with an energetic performance by a local folk Yangge dancing troupe. The lively dance moves and rhythmic drum beats created a spirited atmosphere, prompting many foreign guests to join in the festivities.

Participants also engaged in hands-on activities featuring various Chinese intangible cultural heritage crafts. They had the opportunity to learn and create ice engravings, sugar paintings, wheat straw art, and intricate paper cuttings, deepening their appreciation for China's rich cultural traditions.

Traditional winter delicacies, including frozen pears and persimmons, were available for tasting. Additionally, attendees enjoyed making Yuanxiao, glutinous rice flour dumplings with sweetened stuffing, a beloved treat during the Lantern Festival.

The 9th Asian Winter Games are scheduled to run from February 7 to 14, showcasing the dynamic spirit and cultural heritage of the participating nations.
