Approximately 200 people have been evacuated to safety after a landslide buried 10 houses and left over 30 people missing in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Saturday.
The tragic landslide occurred at 11:50 a.m. in Jinping Village, located in Junlian County within the city of Yibin, according to local authorities.
In response, a Level I geological disaster emergency response—the highest level—was initiated in the province at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Emergency rescue teams, including fire services, public security, transportation, medical, telecommunications, electricity, and other forces, swiftly mobilized to the scene to conduct and support rescue operations.
Two individuals were successfully rescued in the afternoon.
The National Development and Reform Commission has allocated 50 million yuan ($6.97 million) to aid disaster relief and recovery efforts, focusing on restoring infrastructure and public facilities in the affected areas.
Additionally, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management have earmarked 30 million yuan to assist Sichuan in organizing and executing rescue and relief operations.
