A spokesperson for the Chinese mainland expressed profound sorrow on Wednesday over the passing of Koo Yen Cho-yun, the wife of the late Koo Chen-fu, former chairman of the Taiwan-based Straits Exchange Foundation. Heartfelt condolences were extended to her family.
The mainland-based Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) sent a condolence message to Koo's family, according to Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, in response to a media inquiry.
Koo Yen Cho-yun dedicated herself to promoting Chinese culture and was actively involved in cross-Straits exchange and cooperation across various fields. She accompanied her husband to meetings with Wang Daohan, then head of ARATS, making significant contributions to the improvement and development of cross-Straits relations.
Zhu stated that Koo upheld the 1992 Consensus and actively promoted cross-Straits exchange, highlighting her positive role in fostering better relations between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
