Addressing the issue, spokesperson Guo Jiakun stated that certain media outlets had propagated unfounded claims suggesting that Cambodian leaders were forced to choose sides between China and the United States, and that significant cooperation projects between the two nations were facing obstacles. Guo dismissed these allegations as baseless smears and reiterated the unwavering support that China and Cambodia provide to each other.
Guo highlighted that the enduring bond between China and Cambodia was established by previous generations of leaders and has remained resilient despite the evolving international landscape. This relationship serves the core interests of both nations and their peoples, offering strong vitality and promising prospects for future development.
He further noted that China remains Cambodia's largest source of foreign investment and its top trading partner, with bilateral trade increasing nearly fourfold over the past decade. The spokesperson also mentioned ongoing initiatives such as the \"Diamond Hexagon\" cooperation framework, the Industrial Development Corridor, and the \"Fish and Rice Corridor,\" which aim to enhance mutual modernization and address regional challenges.
