CAS Space Completes Delivery of Liqing-2 Rocket Engine

CAS Space has successfully completed the delivery of the Liqing-2 rocket engine, a significant milestone for China's commercial spaceflight sector.

The Liqing-2, a liquid oxygen kerosene engine, weighs 110 tonnes and employs pin injection technology in both its gas generator and thrust chamber. This engine serves as the first-stage engine for the Lijian series rockets, known for their reliability and efficiency.

With a thrust ratio ranging from 50 to 100 percent, the Liqing-2 can achieve a ground thrust of up to 110 tonnes. The development of this engine was approved in the second quarter of 2023, with production commencing in the first quarter of 2024. By early 2025, the engine successfully completed comprehensive liquid flow tests, as well as assembly and delivery reviews.

The Lijian-1 series, the primary rockets in China's commercial space industry, has already launched 57 satellites across five missions, demonstrating their robust performance and reliability. The completion of the Liqing-2 engine delivery underscores CAS Space's commitment to advancing China's presence in the global space market.

CAS Space, established by the Institute of Mechanics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, continues to innovate and contribute to the growth of commercial spaceflight in the region.
