Xi Jinping Advocates for Enhanced China-Kyrgyzstan Cooperation

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for the deepening of all-round mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan during talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Beijing on Wednesday.

Xi emphasized that China is ready to align its development strategies with Kyrgyzstan, expand exchanges in state governance, and push forward the establishment of a China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future.

Highlighting the robust political mutual trust and bilateral cooperation, Xi noted that China-Kyrgyzstan relations have experienced leap-forward development, achieving a new height in comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.

He urged both nations to focus on high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, advancing mutually beneficial cooperation through expanded economic and trade ties. China plans to increase imports of quality goods from Kyrgyzstan and support more Chinese enterprises in investing and starting businesses in Kyrgyzstan, while hoping Kyrgyzstan will protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese investors.

Xi also called for improvements in connectivity, including the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, modernization of existing ports, and the opening of additional passenger and freight flights to facilitate personnel exchange and goods flow.

Furthermore, he advocated for expanding cooperation in emerging sectors such as cross-border e-commerce, big data, and artificial intelligence to foster new growth areas. Strengthening institutions like the Chinese Cultural Center, the Luban Workshop, and Confucius Institute, as well as enhancing local exchanges, were also emphasized to cultivate a stronger China-Kyrgyzstan friendship.

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov echoed the positive sentiments, stating that bilateral relations have reached a new level and highlighting China as Kyrgyzstan's reliable friend and partner. Japarov pledged continued support for China on issues including Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong, and committed to advancing cooperation in industries such as investment, trade, transportation, e-commerce, and education.

The two leaders concluded their meeting by signing a joint statement and witnessing the signing of a Belt and Road cooperation plan, alongside several cooperation documents spanning diplomacy, economy, trade, and agriculture.
