Chinese Mainland Implements New Rules to Boost Military Equipment Research

In a significant move to strengthen its military capabilities, Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission, has signed an order to promulgate revised regulations governing scientific research related to military equipment on the Chinese mainland.

The newly established regulations, comprising 49 articles across eight chapters, are set to take effect on March 1. They introduce comprehensive rules for quality control, cost management, acceptance procedures, support measures, as well as safety and confidentiality protocols.

These regulations outline a vision for military research that prioritizes high quality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainable development. They advocate for a development model that integrates original innovation, independent research and development, controllability, and open exchange.

Moreover, the regulations emphasize accelerated efforts to achieve self-reliance in military technology, building robust capabilities in equipment-related scientific research. An innovation-driven approach is highlighted, along with improved planning for related challenges.

To ensure the effective implementation of these regulations, enhanced supervision and regulation mechanisms have been stipulated, including detailed accountability rules. This move underscores the Chinese mainland's commitment to advancing its military research and maintaining stringent oversight over its development processes.
