China and Pakistan Strengthen Legislative Ties in Beijing Meeting

In a significant development for Sino-Pakistani relations, Zhao Leji, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari in Beijing on Wednesday.

The discussions focused on continuing the traditional friendship between the two nations, implementing the crucial consensus reached by both heads of state, and accelerating the construction of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

Zhao highlighted the importance of exchanges and cooperation between legislative bodies, emphasizing that the NPC is committed to working with the Pakistani parliament to strengthen interactions at all levels. He also mentioned the provision of legal guarantees to support China-Pakistan cooperation.

President Zardari expressed Pakistan's firm support for China's core interests and major concerns, endorsing China's three global initiatives: the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative. He reiterated Pakistan's readiness to promote interactions between the legislatures of both countries and deepen the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
