The ninth Asian Winter Games is just days away from its opening ceremony on February 7 in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. As delegations begin to arrive, the organizing committee has introduced new services at Harbin Taiping International Airport to ensure a smooth and efficient entry process for all participants.
Over forty members of the South Korean delegation touched down on Saturday afternoon, swiftly passing through special channels designated for the Asian Winter Games. The Arrivals & Departures Command Center, established by the organizing committee, has deployed a dedicated service team to assist athletes and officials in clearing customs promptly and conveniently.
\"Athletes from a total of 34 countries and regions will participate in the ninth Asian Winter Games in Harbin,\" said Zhou Shengbin, deputy chief of the Arrivals & Departures Command Center. \"We have developed various measures, including setting up special channels for customs clearance and border inspection, as well as dedicated baggage reclaim areas for overseas delegations. Registration and activation points are established for international arrivals too. So, foreign tourists and delegations will have access to quick and considerate services when they arrive in Harbin.\"
On the same day, China's mixed doubles curling pair Han Yu and Wang Zhiyu arrived at Taiping Airport. The duo, who teamed up in November, have been competing in a series of events to prepare for this newly added discipline in the ninth edition of the Asian Winter Games.
Kuwait, sending 33 athletes to compete in seven disciplines, saw their men's ice hockey team arrive in Harbin on Saturday as well. Having trained since September for the Games, the team was warmly welcomed by Chinese organizers and volunteers. The deputy head of the Kuwaiti delegation expressed gratitude to the host city for its organization and hospitality.
With the arrival of athletes and officials from across Asia, Harbin is buzzing with anticipation. The city's efforts to provide seamless services reflect its commitment to hosting a successful and memorable Asian Winter Games.
