China has expressed strong opposition to Japan's recent decision to impose new export controls on semiconductor-related items, a move that could potentially disrupt global supply chains and affect companies in both nations.
On Friday, Japan announced plans to implement new export restrictions on over ten types of semiconductor-related goods and to limit business dealings with several Chinese companies by placing them on its \"End-User List.\"
A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce voiced concern over Japan's actions, stating, \"For some time now, certain countries have been over-generalizing the concept of national security, misusing export control measures, and imposing sanctions on China's semiconductor and other industries.\"
The spokesperson emphasized that Japan's proposed export controls would undermine the security and stability of global supply chains, disrupt normal business exchanges, and harm the interests of enterprises in both countries.
Currently, Japan is seeking public feedback on these measures. The Chinese ministry expressed hope that Japan would heed rational voices from the industry and urged Japan to correct its approach promptly to avoid hindering the healthy development of bilateral economic relations.
\"The Chinese side will retain the right to take necessary countermeasures and will resolutely defend its legitimate rights and interests,\" the spokesperson added.
