Xi Jinping Sends Chinese New Year Greetings to Iowa Friends, Calls for Stronger U.S.-China Ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a Chinese New Year card to friends in the U.S. state of Iowa, expressing his warm wishes and calling for strengthened ties between China and the United States. In his message, President Xi fondly recalled the hospitality he received during his visit to the beautiful state of Iowa 40 years ago, noting that the memories are still fresh in his mind.

Highlighting the extensive common interests and broad space for cooperation between the two nations, Xi expressed optimism about the potential for China and the United States to become partners and friends. He emphasized that mutual success and common prosperity can be achieved for the benefit of both countries and the world at large.

The Chinese president also expressed his hope that the people of both nations will increase mutual visits and exchanges. "I hope that we can jointly write new stories of friendship between our peoples and make new contributions to the development of China-U.S. relations," Xi stated.

Earlier, a group of 58 individuals from Iowa, including friends Luca Berrone, Gary Dvorchak, and Sarah Lande; former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his wife; former President of the World Food Prize Foundation Kenneth Quinn; as well as teachers, students, and parents involved in the initiative to invite 50,000 young Americans to China for exchange and study over a five-year period, jointly sent a Chinese New Year card to President Xi.

In their card, they reminisced about Xi's first visit to Iowa in 1985 and extended New Year greetings to him in the Year of the Snake. The representatives thanked Xi for proposing the "50,000 in Five Years" initiative, shared their enriching experiences from visiting China, and expressed their eagerness to visit China again.
