Xi Jinping Sends Chinese New Year Greetings to Friends in Iowa

Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended warm Chinese New Year greetings to his friends in the U.S. state of Iowa, emphasizing the shared interests and potential for partnership between China and the United States.

In a reply card sent on Monday, President Xi reminisced about his visit to the picturesque state of Iowa 40 years ago, noting that the hospitality he received remains vivid in his memory. He highlighted that China and the United States, as two significant nations, share extensive common interests and have broad space for cooperation.

\\"China and the United States can achieve mutual success and common prosperity for the benefit of both countries and the world at large,\\" President Xi stated in his message.

The Chinese leader expressed hope for increased exchanges between the peoples of both nations. \\"I hope that our peoples will pay more visits to each other and have more exchanges, jointly write new stories of friendship, and make new contributions to the development of China-U.S. relations,\\" he wrote.

Earlier, a group of 58 individuals from Iowa, including friends such as Luca Berrone, Gary Dvorchak, and Sarah Lande; former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his wife; former President of the World Food Prize Foundation Kenneth Quinn; as well as representatives of teachers, students, and parents who participated in the initiative of inviting 50,000 young Americans to China for exchange and study over a five-year period, jointly sent a Chinese New Year card to President Xi.

In their card, they recalled President Xi's first visit to Iowa in 1985 and extended their New Year greetings for the Year of the Snake. The representatives of teachers, students, and parents expressed gratitude for the \\"50,000 in Five Years\\" initiative, shared their experiences from visiting China, and conveyed their eagerness to visit again.
