Xi Jinping Sends Chinese New Year Card to Iowa Friends, Recalling 1985 Visit

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a Chinese New Year card to friends in the U.S. state of Iowa, expressing warm sentiments and a hopeful outlook for China-U.S. relations. In his message, President Xi recalled the warm reception he received during his visit to Iowa 40 years ago, noting that the memories of the beautiful state and its hospitable people are still fresh in his mind.

Emphasizing the extensive common interests and broad space for cooperation between China and the United States, Xi stated that the two nations can become partners and friends. He highlighted the potential for mutual success and shared prosperity, benefiting not only both countries but also the world at large.

President Xi expressed his hope for increased exchanges and visits between the Chinese and American peoples, aiming to jointly write new stories of friendship and contribute to the development of China-U.S. relations.

Earlier, a group of 58 individuals from Iowa, including friends Luca Berrone, Gary Dvorchak, and Sarah Lande; former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his wife; former President of the World Food Prize Foundation Kenneth Quinn; as well as representatives of teachers, students, and parents from Iowa, had jointly sent a Chinese New Year card to President Xi. The group included participants of the \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, which invites young Americans to China for exchange and study.

In their card, the Iowa friends reminisced about Xi's first visit to Iowa in 1985 and extended New Year greetings to President Xi in the Year of the Snake. The teachers, students, and parents expressed gratitude for the \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, shared their experiences of visiting China, and conveyed their eagerness to visit again.
