Chinese President Xi Jinping has extended his New Year greetings to friends in the U.S. state of Iowa by sending a heartfelt Chinese New Year card. In his message, Xi emphasized that China and the United States share extensive common interests and possess a broad space for cooperation, envisioning a future where the two nations can be partners and friends.
Reflecting on his visit to Iowa 40 years ago, Xi mentioned that the warm reception he received during that time remains vivid in his memory. He expressed optimism that China and the United States can achieve mutual success and common prosperity, benefiting both countries and the global community.
The Chinese president also expressed his hope for increased visits and exchanges between the two peoples, aiming to write new chapters in the friendship between China and the United States and to make significant contributions to the development of bilateral relations.
Earlier, a group of 58 individuals from Iowa, including friends Luca Berrone, Gary Dvorchak, and Sarah Lande; former U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad and his wife; former President of the World Food Prize Foundation Kenneth Quinn; and representatives of teachers, students, and parents who participated in the initiative to invite 50,000 young Americans to China for exchange and study, jointly sent a Chinese New Year card to President Xi. In their card, they recalled Xi's first visit to Iowa in 1985, extended New Year greetings for the Year of the Snake, thanked him for the \"50,000 in Five Years\" initiative, shared their experiences of visiting China, and expressed their eagerness to visit again.
