Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday lauded the solid progress China has made in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite facing complex and challenging situations. Speaking at a high-level reception to ring in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, Xi highlighted the nation's vitality and unwavering spirit.
\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Addressing the challenges of the past year, Xi noted that China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures. \"We overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" he stated at the reception held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.
The event, attended by over 2,000 people, saw Xi extending Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.
Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures that promoted economic recovery, Xi said. He emphasized the remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, noting that new quality productive forces are advancing steadily.
\"China's employment and consumer prices remained stable,\" Xi added, underscoring the country's commitment to maintaining economic stability amid global uncertainties.
As China ushers in the Year of the Snake, Xi called for continued determination and collective efforts to drive the nation's development forward. \"Faced with complex and challenging situations, we must remain steadfast and work together to achieve our goals,\" he concluded.
