Xi Jinping Praises China’s Progress Amid Challenges in the Year of the Dragon

In an atmosphere filled with optimism and pride, Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday praised the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past twelve months, despite facing complex and challenging circumstances. Speaking at a high-level reception held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council to ring in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, Xi commended the resilience and determination of the Chinese people.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission. His remarks highlighted the nation's ability to navigate through difficulties and emerge stronger.

Faced with intricate challenges, China responded with composure and implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcoming obstacles and forging ahead with determination, Xi noted. The past year saw the effective implementation of existing policies alongside the proactive introduction of incremental policies, which collectively promoted economic recovery.

At the reception attended by over 2,000 people, Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese. His inclusive message underscored the unity and shared destiny of the Chinese nation.

\"China achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily,\" Xi said. He emphasized that employment and consumer prices remained stable, reflecting the country's robust economic fundamentals.

As China ushers in the Year of the Snake, Xi's address reaffirms the nation's commitment to modernization and its readiness to meet future challenges with confidence and vigor.
