Xi Jinping Praises China’s Progress Amid Challenges in the Year of the Dragon

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday commended the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite \"complex and challenging\" situations. Speaking at a high-level reception to ring in the Chinese New Year, Xi highlighted the country's resilience and determination in the face of adversity.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Addressing over 2,000 attendees at the reception held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, Xi emphasized China's composed response to challenges. \"Faced with complex and challenging situations, we implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties, and forged ahead with determination,\" he stated.

The event marked the ushering in of the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29. Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, the Taiwan region, and overseas Chinese.

Reflecting on the past year, Xi noted that China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures to promote economic recovery. \"We achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily. China's employment and consumer prices also remained stable,\" he said.

Xi's remarks underscored the nation's commitment to advancing Chinese modernization and fostering a resilient economy amid global uncertainties.
