Xi Jinping Praises China’s Progress Amid Challenges at Lunar New Year Reception

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday celebrated the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past 12 months, despite facing \"complex and challenging\" situations. Speaking at a high-level reception in Beijing to ring in the Chinese New Year, Xi highlighted the resilience and determination of the Chinese people.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.

Xi noted that China responded with composure to complex challenges, implemented a range of comprehensive measures, and overcame difficulties with determination. The reception, which was held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council to usher in the Year of the Snake beginning on January 29, was attended by over 2,000 people.

Extending Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, as well as compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan region, and overseas Chinese communities, Xi emphasized unity and shared progress.

Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures, which helped promote economic recovery, Xi said. He highlighted remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new high-quality productive forces advancing steadily. Employment and consumer prices remained stable, reflecting the country's economic resilience.

Looking ahead to the Year of the Snake, Xi encouraged the nation to maintain its spirit of vitality and determination to achieve further advancements in Chinese modernization.
