Xi Jinping Lauds China’s Progress Amid Challenges at New Year Reception

Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised China's achievements over the past year despite facing \"complex and challenging\" situations. Speaking at a high-level reception in Beijing on Monday to ring in the Chinese New Year, President Xi highlighted the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said. He emphasized the resilience and determination shown by the Chinese people throughout the past 12 months.

Facing various challenges, China responded with composure and implemented comprehensive measures to overcome difficulties, Xi noted. He encouraged the nation to forge ahead with determination as they usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.

The reception, held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council, was attended by over 2,000 people. President Xi extended Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

\"Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental policies, which helped promote the recovery of the economy,\" Xi said. He highlighted remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, steady advancement of new quality productive forces, and the stability of employment and consumer prices.

As China enters the Year of the Snake, President Xi urged continued efforts to advance Chinese modernization and overcome any challenges ahead with unity and determination.
