Xi Jinping Lauds China’s Progress Amid Challenges Ahead of Year of the Snake

Chinese President Xi Jinping has praised China's substantial progress over the past year, highlighting the nation's resilience and determination in the face of complex and challenging situations. Speaking at a high-level reception on Monday to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, Xi acknowledged the achievements made during the Year of the Dragon and expressed optimism for the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" Xi said, addressing an audience of over 2,000 attendees. He emphasized the composure with which China responded to difficulties, implementing comprehensive measures to overcome obstacles and continue advancing Chinese modernization.

Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended his Spring Festival greetings to Chinese people of all ethnic groups, as well as compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and introduced a package of incremental measures, promoting economic recovery and stability. \"China achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces forging ahead steadily,\" Xi noted. He also highlighted the stability of employment and consumer prices, signaling a positive trend for the nation's economy.

The reception, hosted by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, served as an opportunity to reflect on the nation's accomplishments and set a hopeful tone for the coming year. As China ushers in the Year of the Snake, Xi's remarks underscore a commitment to overcoming challenges and continuing on the path of growth and modernization.
