Xi Jinping Lauds China’s Achievements at Lunar New Year Reception

At a high-level reception to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization despite facing complex and challenging situations over the past year.

\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" President Xi said. He commended the country's resilience and determination in overcoming difficulties and forging ahead.

The reception, held by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council on Monday, was attended by over 2,000 guests. President Xi, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended Spring Festival greetings to Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan, and overseas Chinese.

Reflecting on the past 12 months, President Xi highlighted how China responded with composure to complex and challenging situations. \"We implemented a range of comprehensive measures, overcame difficulties, and forged ahead with determination,\" he said at the reception, which ushered in the Year of the Snake beginning on January 29.

Xi noted that China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental policies, promoting the recovery of the economy. The nation achieved remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, with new quality productive forces advancing steadily. China's employment and consumer prices also remained stable.

\"Faced with challenges, we stood firm and took decisive actions,\" President Xi emphasized. \"Our efforts have laid a solid foundation for the country's future development.\"
