Chinese President Xi Jinping praised the nation's solid progress in advancing Chinese modernization over the past year, despite facing complex and challenging situations. Speaking at a high-level reception on Monday to usher in the Year of the Snake, which begins on January 29, Xi highlighted the country's resilience and determination.
\"In the Year of the Dragon, we demonstrated vitality and a can-do spirit. We endured storms and saw the rainbow,\" said Xi, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Xi noted that China responded with composure to the difficulties it faced, implementing a range of comprehensive measures. \"We overcame difficulties and forged ahead with determination,\" he emphasized at the reception held by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council.
The event, attended by over 2,000 people, saw Xi extend Spring Festival greetings to the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, compatriots in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Macao Special Administrative Region, Taiwan region, and overseas Chinese.
Over the past year, China effectively implemented existing policies and proactively introduced a package of incremental measures that helped promote economic recovery, Xi said. He highlighted remarkable progress in technological and industrial innovation, noting that new quality productive forces were advancing steadily.
Xi also mentioned that China's employment and consumer prices remained stable, reflecting the country's economic resilience.
As the nation enters the Year of the Snake, Xi expressed confidence in China's continued progress and the people's ability to navigate future challenges with unity and determination.
